• Principle- The use of a vacuum in a vacuum drier causes the material to dry. Water boils at a lower temperature because of the pressure being reduced when the vacuum is formed. Water dries up more quickly. As a result of improved heat transfer efficiency, drying progresses at a much faster rate.
• Construction- A Vacuum Dryer is constructed from a heavy-jacketed cast iron vessel. Because of its strength, it can endure both the steam in the jacket and the high vacuum within the oven. Twenty hollow shelves that are a component of the jacket are used to divide the enclosed space, which is around a 1.5-metre cube in size, into a few sections. These shelves offer a wider surface area (between 45 and 50 square meters) for heat conduction. Metal trays are positioned above the shelves to hold the books and other items. To create an airtight seal, the oven door can be tightly shut. A condenser is positioned between the vacuum pump and the oven to provide the connection.
• Working- On trays, the material to be dried is spread. On the shelves are the trays. The door is shut tightly. Using a vacuum pump, pressure is reduced by up to 30 to 60 kilopascals. The door is shut tightly. The jacket and shelves' hollow spaces are filled with steam or heated air. Conduction is the method used to transmit heat. Due to the lower boiling point in this vacuum, water from the substance evaporates at a temperature of 25 to 30 °C. Condensation occurs in the condenser, where water vapor enters.
